Performance

The website did not slow down suddenly. It slowed down over six months.

No outage, no notification. It simply takes three seconds to load instead of half a second, the search engine has moved it down, and some visitors give up before they arrive. Without a history of measurements nobody notices.

Performance measurement is included from the Business plan.

What we measure.

You choose the addresses to be measured: the home page and your most important pages. We keep every measurement, so you see not only today number but also how it moved over recent months.

Business
5

up to 5 addresses, once a week, in the mobile profile

Enterprise
15

up to 15 addresses, every day, in the mobile and desktop profiles

Why we do not notify after a single measurement.

The same address measured twice in a row can differ by several points, and a server has its bad quarter hours: a backup, a cache rebuild, a product import. So a measurement that sees a drop only records a suspicion and a time to check again. After the wait we return to the same addresses, and the median of several runs decides.

A performance drop does not open an outage. It is a finding in the panel, in the summary and in the report.

Notification sensitivity
  1. 1 The scheduled measurement sees a drop. We record a suspicion.
  2. 2 We wait 30 minutes to let a bad quarter hour on the server pass.
  3. 3 Three confirming runs on the same address. The middle result decides.
  4. 4 A finding in the panel, in the summary and in the report.
  5. 5 A notification to the people who chose this kind of event.
Simulated. Switch the sensitivity to see how the run changes.

What this measurement is, and what it is not.

It is a measurement in fixed, repeatable conditions, taken from our own infrastructure. It is good for comparing the state of the site over time and for pointing at what slows the page down. It is not a record of what one particular visitor feels on their phone and their network.

We write this down, because two different things are often sold under one name.
